Ganpati Visarjan Pooja is the ritualistic immersion of Lord Ganesha's idol into water at the end of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. This event marks the conclusion of the festival, which typically lasts upto 10 days. The visarjan (immersion) symbolizes the departure of Lord Ganesha from the earthly realm and his return to his heavenly abode, along with the hope for his return in the coming year.

Timing and Dates:- Ganpati Visarjan usually occurs on the 10th day of Ganesh Chaturthi, which is also known as Anant Chaturdashi. The exact date depends on the lunar calendar, typically falling in August or September.

Preparation for Ganpati Visarjan Pooja

Preparation of the Idol:- Ensure that the idol is cleaned and prepared for immersion. If the idol is made of eco-friendly materials, it can be immersed in a water body or a special container at home.

Gather Pooja Items:- Idol of Lord Ganesha: The idol being immersed, Kalash (Sacred Water Pitcher), Diya (Oil Lamps) and incense sticks, Flowers, Fruits, and Sweets, Pooja Thali, Ganesh Chaturthi Hymns

Steps for Performing Ganpati Visarjan Pooja

Setup the Pooja Space:- If immersing the idol at home, set up a dedicated space for the visarjan ritual, Place the Kalash and the idol of Lord Ganesha in the center of the pooja area, Perform Ganesh Pooja, Lighting of Diyas and Incense Stick, Offer flowers, fruits, and sweets to the idol of Lord Ganesha.

Recite Prayers and Mantras:- "Om Gan Ganapataye Namah": A mantra to honor Lord Ganesha, "Ganapati Bappa Morya": A devotional chant to celebrate the festival and seek his blessings.

Aarti:- Perform aarti (waving of the lighted lamp) around the idol of Lord Ganesha while singing devotional songs or hymns.

- Offer aarti with a plate that includes the diya and other offerings.

Final Prayers and Gratitude:- Express gratitude to Lord Ganesha for his blessings during the festival. Offer prayers for his blessings to continue in the coming year.

Immersion (Visarjan):

Home Immersion:- If immersing at home, place the idol in a large container filled with water. Alternatively, if an eco-friendly idol is used, the water can be released into a garden or plant.

Public Immersion:- If participating in a public immersion, the idol is transported to a designated water body or immersion site, often accompanied by a procession with music, chanting, and dancing.

Conclude the Pooja:- After the immersion, clean the pooja space and respectfully dispose of any used offerings, Reflect on the festival’s significance and the blessings received.
